The Tiger II, or Königstiger (King Tiger), was developed by Nazi Germany as a response to increasing Allied armor effectiveness. Combining the best elements of the Tiger I and Panther tanks, it featured heavily sloped armor and a powerful 88mm KwK 43 L/71 cannon, making it one of the most advanced tanks of its time. Production began in 1944, with fewer than 500 units ever completed due to resource shortages and Allied bombing campaigns.
