beachBUB USA was founded by Bill Schermerhorn in 2009 after witnessing a horrible beach umbrella accident. For 15 years, he has been the world leader in beach umbrella safety. In 2021, the US Senate engaged with the ASTM organization and the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to develop a Beach Umbrella Safety Standard. Bill Schermerhorn was voted in as the committee chair when it was formed. In 2024, the first Beach Umbrella Safety Standard ( ASTM F 3681-24 ) passed. BeachBUB USA currently has the only compliant beach umbrella anchor in the world that meets this standard. Over the past nine years, BeachBUB has sold hundreds of thousands of its products, including its US-patented anchor base and Beach Umbrella All-In-One System, which has over 4,000 5-star reviews. The umbrella system is wind tested to 44 MPH. As municipalities implement this new safety standard on their beaches, the demand for our compliant products will increase.
All products are designed, inspected, and assembled in our US facility in Greensboro, NC. Fulfillment and customer support are also handled out of this location.
