Most of our fish treats for dogs and cats are one species to a bag, and Captain's Catch is the exception. It is a freeze-dried medley of squid, octopus, shrimp, clam and mussel. Five ingredients, so we do not call it a single ingredient treat.
The mix is the reason to buy it. This is a mixed-texture bag, and the pieces vary in size and shape from item to item, so two handfuls never look alike. It is also a way to find out which seafood your dog or cat goes for first.
The five ingredients
Listed in this order:
- Squid
- Octopus
- Shrimp
- Clam
- Mussel
Nothing else is in the bag. No grains, fillers or dyes.
Seafood dog treats, piece by piece
Feed a dog the pieces as they come or break them into smaller portions. Small pieces work as training rewards. Sprinkled over food, the medley is a meal topper. It comes in one size, a 1.5 ounce bag.
Captain's Catch is freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern, Pennsylvania, where Sniff and Shift also ships it. Our one ingredient treats are in the freeze-dried collection, and a recurring order is managed on the subscription page.

Questions
What kind of fish is in Captain's Catch?
None with fins. The five ingredients are squid, octopus, shrimp, clam and mussel, and that is everything in the bag.
Is it a single ingredient treat?
No. It is a medley of five seafood ingredients. If you already know one of the five is a problem for your dog or cat, this is not the bag, and your veterinarian is the one to ask if you are unsure.
Are these freeze-dried fish treats for dogs or for cats?
Both. The same bag ships for dogs and cats. For a cat, serve small pieces or crumble some over food.
Why do the pieces look so different?
Five different animals went into the bag. Size and shape change from one item to the next, and so does texture.
How many calories are in it?
About 64.4 kcal per ounce, per the label, and the bag is 1.5 ounces.
