Grow a beautiful culinary surprise with our Chioggia Beet seeds. This treasured Italian heirloom looks like a classic red beet on the outside, but slice it open to reveal stunning, candy-cane-striped rings of red and white. It's a true showstopper! The flavor is wonderfully sweet and mild, lacking the strong earthiness of other beets, which makes it perfect for slicing raw into salads. The leafy green tops are also delicious and can be cooked just like spinach.

⭐ What you'll love

  • A beautiful and surprising "candy cane" striped pattern on the inside.
  • A delightfully sweet and mild flavor that is less earthy than other beets.
  • A dual-purpose vegetable—enjoy both the sweet root and the nutritious greens.
  • A versatile beet, perfect for roasting, pickling, or slicing raw into salads.

🌱 Growing instructions

  • Sowing: Direct sow outdoors as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, or in late summer for a fall crop.
  • Depth: Plant seeds 1/2 inch deep.
  • Spacing: Space seeds 2 inches apart in rows, and later thin seedlings to 4-6 inches apart.
  • Light Requirement: Full Sun.
  • Soil: Prefers loose, fertile, well-draining soil.
  • Note: To retain the vibrant stripes, it's best to roast or eat them raw, as boiling can cause the colors to bleed.
