Freeze-Dried Baby Octopus: Novel Protein Treats for Dogs & Cats

Freeze-dried baby octopus for dogs and cats, with one ingredient: baby octopus. It is freeze-dried in small batches in Malvern, Pennsylvania, with nothing added.

It looks like what it is. Each piece is a whole baby octopus with the tentacles intact, and nobody will mistake it for a biscuit. The pieces are small and crunch at 4 of 5 by our scoring. Size and texture differ from one octopus to the next. The smell is strong, in the way seafood is.

Whole for the dog, crumbled for the cat

Dogs. Feed a piece whole or break it into smaller pieces, depending on the size of the dog. We list it for adult dogs of all sizes. As a training reward it scores 3 of 5 on our scorecard.

Cats. Serve one whole or crumble it over food.

Octopus dog treats for the protein rotation

Octopus is a long way from the usual meats, which is the reason to buy it. It is a single ingredient option for owners who like to rotate proteins, and for dogs and cats that already go for seafood. One size, a 2 ounce bag. It is light, shelf stable and needs no refrigeration.

Sniff and Shift makes the octopus and ships it from Malvern, Pennsylvania. A recurring order is there if one bag becomes a habit, and the rest of what we freeze-dry is over here.

Can dogs eat octopus?

This bag is made for dogs and cats: plain baby octopus, freeze-dried, with no grains, fillers or dyes. The label says to feed it as a treat or meal topper, not to replace a complete and balanced diet.

Is it really a whole octopus?

Yes. Whole baby octopus, tentacles intact, and that is the only ingredient.

Can cats have octopus too?

Yes, the same bag is for cats. Serve a piece whole, or crumble it over food.

Why are the pieces different sizes?

Because each piece is a whole animal and they are not all alike. Size and texture vary from piece to piece.
