Beef tripe for dogs, freeze-dried raw, with one ingredient on the label: beef tripe.
We will say it before you open the bag: tripe smells. Freeze-drying makes it milder than raw tripe, and milder is not the same as mild. Our scorecard lists the piece as medium with a strong smell, 3 of 5 for crunch and 4 of 5 for training value. We list it for adult dogs, medium and large.
Tripe dog treats or a meal topper
As a reward, break a piece into bite-sized bits and hand them out one at a time. A 4 of 5 on our card makes it a high value treat, and the dog does not share your opinion of the smell. As a topper, crumble a piece over kibble or a raw meal.
Three bags, and a note on the car
It comes in 1.5 ounces, 2 ounces and 4 ounces. Start with the 1.5 ounce bag if your dog has never had tripe, or if you have never smelled it. The 4 ounce bag is for the house that already knows. Whatever the size, press the seal shut. A closed bag rides fine in a door pocket. An open one announces itself.
This tripe is made and shipped by Sniff and Shift in Malvern, Pennsylvania, in small batches. If a bag disappears on a schedule at your house, put it on a recurring order.

Questions
What is beef tripe?
The stomach lining of cattle. Ours is raw beef tripe, freeze-dried, with no added ingredients. Our green tripe guide has the longer story.
Why does tripe smell so strong?
Because it is tripe. It is naturally strong smelling, and the freeze-dried kind is milder than raw. That is as far as we can honestly go.
Does freeze dried tripe for dogs need refrigeration?
No. Once it is freeze-dried it is shelf stable. Keep the bag closed, in a spot that is cool and dry.
How much tripe can a dog have?
It is a treat or a topper, not a meal. The label lists about 119.4 kcal per ounce and a minimum of 31 percent crude fat, so a little goes on the bowl, not a handful.
