Grow one of the most famous and beloved lavender varieties with our heirloom Hidcote Lavender seeds. This classic English Lavender is prized for its compact, uniform growth habit and its famously deep, violet-purple flowers. The blooms are incredibly fragrant and sit atop a mound of beautiful silvery-green foliage. 'Hidcote' is the number one choice for creating a tidy, fragrant hedge or for edging pathways and borders. The dark flowers are also exceptional for drying, as they hold their rich color beautifully for use in crafts and sachets.

  • Stratification (Required): For spring planting, seeds require 30 days of cold stratification in the refrigerator before sowing.
  • Sowing: After stratifying, start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost.
  • Depth: Press seeds into the surface of the soil, as they need light to germinate. Cover very lightly.
  • Germination: Keep soil warm (around 70°F) and moist. Germination can be slow, taking 14-21 days or more.
  • Spacing: Space or thin plants to 18-24 inches apart.
  • Light Requirement: Full Sun.
  • Soil: Must have excellent drainage; lavender dislikes wet feet.
