MSNBC Thinks You’re a Nazi if You Work Out

Yes–you read that correctly. This was an actual tweet from Elon Musk (well, he did add an “lmaooo” at the end) in response to a tweet from MSNBC, stating “The far right’s obsession with fitness is going digital.” In all fairness, it was an “opinion” tweet, with the subhead reading “Why the far-right is really into home fitness. White supremacists’ latest scheme to valorize violence and hypermasculinity has gone digital.” Elon wasn’t the only one cashing in on the fun of the absurdity of this tweet. Many others joined in, including Joe Rogan, a self-styled liberal and lifetime fitness fanatic, tweeting, “Being healthy is ‘far right.’ Holy f–k.”

Interestingly, this tweet comes from the same side of the aisle that has demonized tobacco, sugar and red meat, while espousing the benefits of wearing masks all in the name of good health. Of course we all know that too much of a good thing can impact our health, but to imply that exercising ISN’T about health, but rather a tool of right-wing extremism is a bizarre new form of extremism that we have not yet been able to identify!

And just when you think you’ve reached the center square of crazy town, you realize you’re still on the outskirts when you get to the part of the tweet where the author, Cynthia Miller-Idriss, claims that you’re also a Nazi if you practice or engage in any kind of combat sports or martial arts. Any Taekwondo Parents? What you thought was teaching your children about the importance of physical training and discipline is actually indoctrinating your little ones to becoming mini Nazis. The author explains:

“The intersection of extremism and fitness leans into a shared obsession with the male body, training, masculinity, testosterone, strength and competition…Physical fitness training, especially in combat sports, appeals to the far right for many reasons: fighters are trained to accept significant physical pain, to be ‘warriors,’ and to embrace messaging around solidarity, heroism, and brotherhood.”

We find it interesting that shortly after this article came out, Tucker Carlson released a long-form video on Twitter where he conducted an hour-long interview with the very controversial Andrew Tate (the billionaire influencer and ex-kick-boxer currently on house-arrest in Romania for alleged human trafficking charges). Whether you love him or hate him, Tate certainly brought up some very interesting insights on physical fitness, and the role it plays in living a healthy and productive life–particularly as a man in today’s society. He talked about the power of being physically healthy and how that impacts the mind and spirit, and his belief that depression in men is oftentimes triggered by an unhealthy lifestyle and the mindset it creates. We encourage you to watch it and form your own opinions–it is an incredibly thought-provoking conversation at the very least, and provides some truth-bombs about the demasculinization propaganda the left is pushing.
